GroPro makes high-quality protein and flour concentrates for the food industry with a unique, environmentally friendly, and climate-smart technology. The raw material is Swedish peas and other legumes. The main supplier is Foodhills, which ensures short transport times and low carbon footprint. With its geographical base in the Swedish pea-growing hub, GroPro has access to practically unlimited volumes of peas and legumes of the very highest quality.

When the frozen food brand Findus’ factory in Bjuv in southern Sweden was closed in 2017, both jobs and a large food producer disappeared from the region. The 100,000-square-metre premises and a large agricultural property with lots of history and tradition provided a fantastic opportunity for new ideas to develop from business entrepreneur Erik Paulsson and his property company Backahill. Foodhills AB was created as a place for circular, sustainable food production with a variety of crops and smart energy operation and production.
GroPro was started in 2021 as a spin-off company from Foodhills. Since 2022, GroPro is producing high-quality protein concentrates for the food industry in a modern production facility.
At GroPro, we constantly challenge ourselves to be as sustainable as possible. We do not let anything go to waste and we are striving to find applications and end products for all parts of the legumes we process. We do this by working closely with partners and finding new fruitful collaborations.
GroPro currently collaborates with several leading food producers. One of them is Culinar, a Swedish food company that offers knowledge, product development and a large range of ingredients to the food industry in the Nordic market. The company is based just east of Kristianstad in southern Sweden and is part of Sweden’s Starch Producers Association, an economic association with around 600 farmers as members.
Another good example of a collaboration is the development of JackFava, which has been done together with Nordic Kitchen Visionaries (Nokivi). It has resulted in a product that can be used as a basis for making several finished end products. JackFava is a completely natural product (Clean Label) without any chemical additives and has a very wide range of uses. JackFava uses our tasteless fava bean concentrate with 68% protein content.
GroPro believes in cooperation with others and cooperates with several leading actors in the food sector such as the state research institute Rise. Our ambition is to, together with you as a customer and our good networks in the food sector, be able to offer consumers good food that is also good for our planet.
